HEY MOM!!
About the helmet, It was in the back of the Settles car, and they were feeding us Sunday, so I put it on just to be a goof haha. Man, this week has just flown by! The high light of the week was definitely talking to brother Jarvis. I love that man. And last time I checked, his daughter was pretty cute.... So who knows. Thanks for bringing all of this up, Its good to hear about all this stuff from someone else, not just myself. Unfortunately, I have learned a lot of this stuff while serving the Lord, which at times has been cause for repentance on my part. But I am so grateful for it. The Lord knows me, and He knows what I need to go through. I often think about what you said to me once about finding the right girl. You told me not to look, but to be the kind of person I want to be married too. wise words from an amazing mom. I pray every day for Heavenly Father to help me find my wife and to bless her. It is so important to me. Luckily for me, I have the next 6 months before finding one becomes top 5 on my priority list. There are definitely a couple of girls here that I wouldn't mind dating, but I am totally ok with just focusing on the work and being obedient. Super grateful. I'm so grateful to be born into a family of valiant men and women who love the Lord. Having been in a companionship where I felt like I was carrying much of the load, both spiritually and emotionally, I have vowed to find someone who is mentally healthy. who is independent and takes care of her self and has an incredibly strong relationship with the Savior. That's what I want, more than anything. I want a strong daughter of God, who will help me prepare my children for the coming of the Lord, and to face the challenges around them. Please pray with me to help me find her. I know she is out there.
So a few weeks ago, my max for bench was 195 for one. two days ago I did 195 for 3 and then did 205 for 1 and 1/2 reps. I'm maxing out Tuesday, so hopefully, that will be super good. Hug ben for me today, let him know that I love him and that I'm going to lift with him when I get home and get him strong. I realized that I have a spending problem after I bought some boots on sale. In fact, I'm wearing them right now. Super nice Timberlands for half off. that being said, I still paid a lot for them. So my new goal is to not spend money, so I leave my personal card at home! Solutions are great. The upside is that I'm going to have these boots for a looong time. and they are waterproof and hecka warm, so I got them just in time for Colorados bizarre winters, which are usually bad February through April. Anyways, that's what's new with me.
We dropped Layla, so we aren't meeting with her every week now. just every other. She just isn't ready to embrace the Gospel. We also had some massive changes happen! On Wednesday we had a World Wide Missionary Broadcast.
It was announced that we have a new schedule, one that gives us a lot more flexibility, and in theory allows for more sleep! From 6:30 to 10:00 we get to decide when we eat food, study our scriptures, plan, work out, and prepare for the day. Then during the day, we get to decide when we have companionship study. At night, all we do is write in our journals, and prepare for bed. Or for me, I practice guitar, or work out again as well ;) We still need to be in bed by 10:30.
The other announcement is one that is pretty interesting. For a long long time, Missionaries would track certain statistical information. For example, we counted how many lessons we taught, and to who, and who was with us, and if they were progressing. Now we only report on Investigators Baptized and Confirmed, Investigators at Sacrament Meeting, Investigators With a Baptismal Date, and New Investigators. We also count the same things for less actives, minus the Baptisms and baptismal dates. Instead, we track reactivation dates, and dates reactivated, which means that they received a temple recommend.
Anyways. I love you so much, and I'm so grateful for you. I will let you filter this email out and send it to everyone ;)
I know that God lives. I know that His Son, Jesus Christ, is my Savior. He hath redeemed my soul from hell, from the pain and anguish of sin. I know that trials are the winds that blow us home. I know that Christ true Church has been restored, and can be found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that if we have faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, repent of our sins, are baptized by immersion for the remission of sins, receive the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end, we can have happiness in the face of trials, peace for every day, and eternal joy. Today is part of eternity. Make sure you're happy. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. He truly did translate the Book of Mormon, and I know that the Book of Mormon is a true record, another testament of Jesus Christ. Finally, I know that I am saved and that one day, if I remain faithful, I will hear those blessed words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" from Jesus Christ. It is all I want.
Love,
Elder Rogers
